The D-Day 80th Anniversary 5 Coin
This year we commemorate the historic80th Anniversary of the Normandy Landings.
And now, to honour the nation’s heroes from that day, abrand new 5 Coinhas been issued.
The design by artist, Jean-Michel Girard, features the iconicSpitfire Mk IX, HMS WarspiteandSherman Firefly Tank, all of which were used so effectively during the Normandy landings.
What makes this anniversary even more poignant, is that this ismost likely the last major anniversary where the few surviving veterans are able to honour their D-Day comradesand indeed all those that gave their lives in the name of freedom.
